HORSE
Tilly
Tilly came to us from a riding program where she had been a tremendously patient, kind, and hard working horse for almost 23 years. She never knew a day without a job. She is blind in one eye and yet was still showing up to perform day after day. When it was clear that she deserved retirement from her day job, her owner reached out to us. Thankfully we had a spot for this sweet mare and within a few weeks she came to live at BRRB. We wish we could accept every request for an animal in need.
Due to her age, she has health challenges that are managed with medication and diet. She also has several cancerous melanomas, which are common in aging gray mares. They are typically slow growing, and cause problems only when the size or location of the growths disrupt normal functions. Tilly’s melanoma are regularly monitored and she is on daily medication to slow their growth.
Tilly is hands down the sweetest most gentle horse you’ll ever meet. She trusts her humans, and loves the attention she gets from her caregivers and is a volunteer favorite, of course! She loves grooming days and gives the best hugs!
